FIELD: dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with catalysts used in dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons and with the methods of application of the catalysts. The regenerated catalyst used for dehydrogenation of the hydrocarbons contains a catalytic component picked out of the group consisting of platinum, rhodium, iridium, palladium, ruthenium and osmium, deposited on a carrying agent containing porous aluminum oxide, that has a specific surface of more than 100 m2/g , volume of pores with diameters less than 6 nm (60А) makes less than 0.05 cm3/g, volume of pores with diameters within the limits of 6-35 nm (60-350 А) makes more than 0.50 cm3/g, and where volume of pores with diameters within the limits of 6-35 nm (60-350 А) makes more than about 70% of bulk volume of pores. The method of production of olefin by dehydrogenation of the hydrocarbons with application of the mentioned above catalyst is also described. The invention ensures a favorable balance of selectivity, activity and thermal stability of the catalyst.
