FIELD: mechanical engineering; metal working and cutting.

SUBSTANCE: proposed face milling cutter has cylindrical body with cylindrical holes located in parallel with cutter axis and cutting inserts fitted in holes for turning around their axes and axial displacement. Said inserts are made in form of cylindrical cutting rods. Cutting elements are fitted in heads of cutting inserts. Thread is cut between head and cylindrical rod of each cutting insert with adjusting nut fitted on thread and engaging with end face surface of body to provide axial displacement of cutting insert and adjust end face play of tip of cutting element. To increase accuracy, rigidity and stability to dynamic loads, hole is made on end of each cutting insert opposite to head. Rocker is installed in said with pair of adjusting screws located in threaded holes of on ends of rocker. Adjusting screws serve to turn cutting insert around axis of cylindrical rod and to adjust radial play of main cutting edge of cutting element installed for interaction with cylindrical surface of projection made on end face of body opposite to heads. Slot is made in milling cutter body for each cutting insert. Said slot is displaced from axis of cylindrical hole to outer surface and it separates part of hole with formation of cantilever pressure lug designed for interaction with cylindrical rod of cutting insert and its fastening by clamp in cylindrical hole of body by means of screws installed in body and passing through holes in cantilever pressure lug to pull it close to body.
