BUILTUP TOOL Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: metal working, possibly metal cutting.

SUBSTANCE: tool includes body, cutting tip with aperture secured to angular seat of body by means of rod having head and threaded end; sleeve arranged in stepped through opening of body in the same axis as said rod. In order to enhance strength of tool the last is provided with ring, screw and chip breaker placed on cutting tip and being in the form of plate with opening for passing rod, end face designed for engaging with cut chips and for breaking it, inclined relative to front surface of cutting tip and turned towards apex and main cutting edge of cutting tip. Head of rod is arranged in recess provided in plate of chip breaker at side of lateral surface opposite relative to its other lateral surface engaged with front surface of cutting tip. Ring is in the form of tore and it is placed in through stepped opening of tool body at side of first end of sleeve with possibility of shifting towards axis of rod and engagement with it. Rod axis is shifted relative to axis of opening of cutting tip in direction to angular seat apex. Ring is mounted with possibility of engagement of its toroidal surface at side opposite relative to angular seat apex with cone surface of bottom of through stepped opening, with first end of sleeve and rod. Screw is arranged in body for preventing rotation of sleeve around rod axis at screwing it and for eliminating sleeve falling out at replacing cutting tip due to engagement with lengthwise groove of sleeve. At side of second end in opening of sleeve there is thread for engaging with threaded end of rod. Tool may be in the form of cutter.

EFFECT: enhanced strength of tool due to elimination of cutting tip bending, improved operational reliability due to prevention of damage of tool members by chips at cutting.
