SHIP'S BOW Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2238873 C2

FIELD: hydrodynamics and shipbuilding.

SUBSTANCE: ship's bow have shields installed below waterline on both sides. Front portion of these shields is parallel to direction of motion of ship. Lower and upper horizontal edges of shields are connected with ship's plating by means of plates forming passages. At least one lattice-like hydrofoil at adjustable angle of attack is mounted in said passage along its length. Fore hydrofoil is installed near ship's plating and aft hydrofoil is installed at surface of lateral wall of passage. Intermediate hydrofoils are located between fore and aft hydrofoils. Plate-type interceptor is mounted along trailing edge of hydrofoil on lower surface.

EFFECT: increased thrust of ship and consequently increased running speed and reduced consumption of fuel.
