BURNT ANODE FOR ALUMINUM ELECTROLYZER Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2239005 C2

FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; electrolytic production of aluminum; anodes for aluminum electrolyzers.

SUBSTANCE: proposed burnt anode has anode unit with one or several vertical passages on its lower working surface. Said vertical passages are provided with differential recess in form of section with depression of 0.25-0.30 of height of unit or depression of 0.25-0.30 of height of unit at inclination of up to 3 deg. and section at gradual depression of 0.75 of height of unit which is engageable with first section. Point of engagement of these sections is located within 0.45-0.75 of length of unit when passages are located along its longitudinal axis or width of unit when passages are located across its longitudinal axis. When use is made of several vertical passages, they are located at pitch of 0.35-0.5 of width of unit when they are located along its longitudinal axis or at pitch of 0.25-0.33 of length of unit when they are located across its longitudinal axis. Novelty of invention consists in maintenance of drop of voltage in electrolyte due to fast evacuation of gas from under anode at required circulation of electrolyte in areas of delivery of alumina.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency.
