FIELD: machine engineering, namely dimensionless finishing of part surfaces by means of petal type discs.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of using built-up wheel having pair of abrasive petal type discs. The last are mounted in spindle at inclination angle α relative to plane normal to rotation axis and simultaneously preliminary and finish polishing are realized. In order to realize it, one disc is rigidly secured to spindle. Second disc is mounted on spindle with use of bearing assembly according to condition of rolling around blank due to friction forces and oscillation of working cutting layer of disc along axis at frequency equal to revolution number of spindle. Petals of disc are made of double-side grinding cloth in the form of ellipse whose small axis is equal to diameter of discs and whose large axis is determined depending upon inclination angle of discs according of given formula. Such design provides increased axial rigidity of tool and crossed motion paths of grinding discs.
EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities of tool due to working by means of two ends of petals, enhanced efficiency, improved quality of working.
