FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: α-methylstyrene is subjected to dimerization in presence of zeolite-containing cracking catalyst (Tseokar-10) preliminarily subjected to high-temperature (500-650оС) treatment in presence of water steam over a 8-12 h period, amount of catalyst being 5 to 20% and reaction temperature 60 to 120оС. Yield of product is 80-83%.
EFFECT: increased productivity and simplified process.
