FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing cyclic homo- and co-dimers of styrene and α-methylstyrene via combined oligomerisation of styrene and α-methylstyrene in the presence of acid catalysts, characterised by that the catalyst used is Y and Beta-type zeolites in H-form or cation-decationated form rare-earth-HY, rare-earth-Beta. The reaction is carried out in chlorobenzene in molar ratio styrene:α-methylstyrene =1:1, at temperature 80-130°C and amount of catalyst equal to 5-30 wt % (per mixture of monomers).
EFFECT: easy synthesis of cyclic homo- and co-dimers of styrene and α-methylstyrene.
