FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for combined synthesis of cyclic and linear homo- and codimers of styrene and α-methylstyrene. Described is a method for combined synthesis of cyclic and linear homo- and dimers of styrene and α-methylstyrene via codimerisation of monomers in the presence of an acid catalyst, characterised by that the catalyst used is zeolite H-ZSM-12 in amount of 5-30 wt % and the reaction takes place in chlorobenzene at temperature 80-130°C.

EFFECT: simple, environmentally safe method for combined oligomerisation of styrene and α-methylstyrene.
