METHOD FOR PREPARING VINYL ACETATE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2239626 C2

FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of vinyl acetate in the industrial scale. Method represents the integrated process for preparing vinyl acetate for some steps. Contacting gaseous raw containing mainly ethane is carried out in the first and the second reaction zones with molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of catalyst that results to preparing the first product flow comprising acetic acid and ethylene-containing the second production flow, respectively. Then the first gaseous product flow from the first zone and the second production flow from the second zone are contacted with molecular oxygen-containing gas in the presence of catalyst in the third reaction zone to yield the fourth production flow containing vinyl acetate. The molar ratio of ethane to oxygen in the parent raw is in the range from 1:1 to 10:1. Preferably, in the first and/or the second reaction zone catalyst is used of the general formula MoaPdbXcYd wherein metals X and Y and values a, b, c and d are given in the invention claim. Additional amount of ethylene and/or acetic acid can be fed to the third reaction zone isolated from technological flows of the synthesis unit and stage for separation of products. Invention provides possibility for changing the ratio of selectivity in formation of acetic acid in the broad range and selectivity in formation of ethylene in intermediate steps of process, and reducing investment and energetic consumptions.

EFFECT: improved preparing method.
