METHOD FOR PLEXAL ANESTHESIA OF THE LOWER LIMB Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, orthopedics, traumatology.

SUBSTANCE: the point for needle's puncturing in should be located being 2-3 cm above the upper edge of femoral greater trochanter from the side of anesthesia; needle should be introduced in frontal plane being perpendicular against body axis for the depth - to have contact with the surface of iliac wing's body till the moment of resistant loss or at manifestation of paresthesia; anesthetic should be introduced between sacro-spinal ligament and pear-shaped muscle, then infiltration of local anesthetic should be carried out into subcutaneous fiber being above Poupart's ligament and parallel to the upper edge of iliac wing. The present innovation enables to perform simultaneous anesthesia of sciatic, obturator, posterior cutaneous nerves and their branches that, in turn, provides adequate anesthesia of the lower limbs and widened area for operative interference.

EFFECT: higher reliability and atraumaticity.
