FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves administering anesthesia in dorsal lying position. Antero-superior spine of iliac bone and pubic tubercle are used as anatomical marks. The formations are connected with a line. The line is divided into three parts and perpendicular is drawn on the femoral side on the boundary separating the internal and middle one third. The greater trochanter is palpated and a line is drawn from it in parallel to inguinal ligament. The point of intersection of this line and the above mentioned perpendicular is selected to be the needle puncture point. The extremity is bent at an angle of 140 deg in hip joint. The injection needle is introduced in perpendicular to the horizontal plane. Femoral nerve blockage is started after piercing iliopectineal fascia. Lumbar plexus anesthesia is accomplished in pressing thigh below the injection point. Following advance of the injection needle into depth until sciatic nerve contact takes place results in blocking the sciatic nerve with additional administration of local anesthetic. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of anesthesia; simplified method.
