FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely processes for producing magnesium by electrolysis of melt salts.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of disintegrating waste materials and separating them by fraction; leaching them by hydrochloric acid solution for producing chlorine-magnesium suspension; separating solution and deposit; purifying and concentrating solution; performing multi-stage dehydration of solution for producing anhydrous chlorine-magnesium raw material for electrolysis; converting chlorine for producing hydrogen chloride and feeding it to stage for preparing raw material for electrolysis. According to invention silica deposit after separation of solution is washed out for removing chlorine-ion and it is subjected to heat treatment; then it is mixed with reducing agent and treated by means of chlorine for producing silicone tetrachloride. Heat treatment of silica deposit and treatment of it by chlorine are realized in fluidized bed. Treatment of silica deposit by chlorine is realized in melt of alkali metal chlorides. Before mixing silica deposit with reducing agent it is subjected to magnetic and electrostatic separation for producing silica concentrate. Reducing agent is pitch or refinery coke. Before mixing with reducing agent silica deposit is disintegrated until fraction size less than 0.2 mm.

EFFECT: lowered quantity of waste materials usually formed at production of magnesium, less degree of environment contamination, possibility for producing from waste material new merchant product such as silicone tetrachloride.
