FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in crumbling oxide raw material, in its leaching with acid solution and in producing chlorine-magnesium solution at temperature 60-90°C, in purification, concentrating at installation of submerged combustion and in processing solution with salts containing chlorides of potassium and magnesium producing mixture of synthetic carnallite of homogenous composition. Further, the mixture is blended with natural refined carnallite. There is performed two-stage dehydration, and dehydrated carnallite is obtained. It is subjected to electrolysis and there are produced magnesium, chlorine and spent electrolyte. Part of chlorine is returned to the stage of dehydration and spent electrolyte is returned to the mixing stage. Also as acid solution for leaching there is used acid-salt solution out of water wastes of titanium production at weight ratio chloride-ion to water 1: (2-9). Acid-salt solution is preliminary concentrated by means of circulation. Spent melt of titanium chlorinators treated with water or exhaust gases of titanium chlorinators treated with water are used as water wastes of titanium production.
EFFECT: reduced prime cost of magnesium production and reduced exhaust of fumes into atmosphere.
