FIELD: aerodynamic testing.
SUBSTANCE: method includes testing a path in the transient regime, measuring pressure at the path outlet, measuring gas pressure in the closed chamber, and determining the area of the cross-section upstream of the path inlet. Before testing and filling the chamber with gas, the chamber is filled with liquid to form the gas-liquid interface and the cross-section area of the chamber, initial height of the gas pad in the chamber, initial and variable height of the liquid column in the chamber above the path inlet are measured. The hydraulic drag is then calculated. The device has closed chamber provided with a source of pressure, path holder, pressure gauge for measuring pressure in the chamber, valving member mounted at the outlet of the path which is connected with the path holder via a flexible link, liquid source, liquid lever meter, safety valve, drain chamber, and system for pumping liquid from the drain chamber. The valving member is provided with a plug for removing gas inclusions from the internal space of the path when the chamber is filled with liquid before testing.
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy.
