FIELD: environmental safety.
SUBSTANCE: method is characterized by that a substance to be detoxified is subjected to multistage treatment process in high-temperature high-speed gas flow involving thermochemical decomposition at 2000-3500K to form reaction products, which are then afterburned and, after addition of appropriate reagents, take part in reactions resulting in formation of final nontoxic compounds. At least in one process stage, gas flow including substance being detoxified is at least once accelerated to supersonic speed and then, using compacting jump, transferred into subsonic speed zone, while reaction products are rapidly cooled at the rate 106oC/s within a range of 2000 to 1000K.
EFFECT: reduced dispersity of thermochemically decomposed toxic substance, increased fullness of combustion, and suppressed formation of secondary toxic compounds.
