FIELD: metal working industry branches, namely contact flash-butt welding of cast iron.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminarily intermittently heating welded parts while setting total time period t(s) of preliminary heating t = 0.02 S, where S - cross section area of welded part (sq. mm). Heating is realized intermittently during time period t in several cycles. Total time duration of pulse and pause of each cycle is in range 0.8 - 1.2 s. After flashing part, it is upset under pressure 30 - 40 MPa. During the whole time period of welding including preliminary intermittent heating interval, applying to welded parts in welding zone non-sine nanosecond electromagnetic pulses having power 1 MWt, width less than 1 ns and repetition frequency no less than 1 kHz.
EFFECT: enhanced strength and plastic characteristics of cast iron articles.
