FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of liquid hydrocarbons, in particular petroleum, to remove sulfur and to reforming involving electromagnetic fields. Method according to invention consists in preheating liquid hydrocarbons followed by exposing it to monopolar electromagnetic pulses characterized by power 1 MW, duration at least 1 ns, and frequency at least 1 kHz. Installation comprises vessel for treatment of liquid hydrocarbons with supply and discharge systems, liquid hydrocarbon preheating device, and electromagnetic pulse exciter (emitter) connected to treatment vessel. Preheating device is controlled heat-exchanger located between supply system and treatment vessel inlet and connected to this vessel through pump. Emitter is placed coaxially inside the vessel and constructed in the form of long metallic rod with cylindrical helix coiled around it. Liquid hydrocarbon discharge system is communicates with apparatus for settling treated liquid hydrocarbons. Settler and treatment vessel are provided with connecting pipes for removing gases formed during treatment process.

EFFECT: simplified technology and equipment, and increased productivity of process.
