FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: furnace for manufacture of glass bars has body with fire-resistant capacity in it made to resist melted synthetic transparent quartz glass, one or more burner made capable of supporting temperature of said melted glass in said fire-resistant capacity higher than temperature of its baking. At least one of said burners is synthesis burner having respective means for supplying source substance of silica and combustible gases, and made with possible precipitation of glass from steam phase onto melted substance surface. Extrusion head is made in wall or in base of capacity and is made with aperture through which extrusion of glass bar is performed. Means consisting of moveable clamps or clamping bushings placed after said aperture is made with possible facilitation of extraction of bar, while said means is made with possible continuous removing of glass in form of bar with given parameters of cross-section determined by size of extrusion head aperture with speed practically equal to speed of forming of silica by synthesis burners. Also described is method for producing bars of synthetic transparent quartz glass.
