FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for production of monolithic homogeneous ingots of quartz glass used in instrument making for production of high-quality quartz parts and quartz sensitive elements. Method is based on vacuum melting of powder quartz material, which is poured from heated hopper and melting is carried out in layers with gradual filling melting crucible. To increase degree of purification from impurities, thickness of each fused layer is selected at level of maximum size of particles of powder material, and duration of process of layer formation is limited by duration of fusion, spreading and degassing.
EFFECT: disclosed method compared to traditional methods of vacuum crucible melting provides low bubble content of quartz glass, and increases its homogeneity and optical transmission coefficient.
