FIELD: transformer manufacture.

SUBSTANCE: proposed core designed for use in power distribution transformers is made of magnetic strips. It has desired height and is in essence multilayer structure of cylindrical toroidal shape wound about center line of toroid in the form of spiral. Each layer of structure is formed by predetermined number of magnetic strips disposed along center line with natural air gaps between every two adjacent bands of layer. Layers are relatively offset through predetermined distance along mentioned center line so that each air gap in one layer (n - 1) is overlapped by strips of other layers of structure. Desired number n of layers in mentioned structure depends on magnetic properties of strips to meet relationship n ≥ Bop/(Bstr - Bop), where Bop is operating value of magnetic flux density; Bstr is saturation value of magnetic flux density.

EFFECT: optimized magnetic flux distribution among magnetic circuit layers.
