FIELD: smoking articles, in particular, production of cigarettes with reduced concentration of hazardous substances in smoke.

SUBSTANCE: cigarette has filter surrounded with wrapping paper embracing filter tip covering. Inner side of filter wrapping paper has metal coating applied only on part of filter wrapping paper to provide for air penetration through it into filter. Metal coating includes aluminum layer made in the form of longitudinal strips. Coating is applied onto wrapping paper in finely dispersed and high-porosity manner.

EFFECT: selective reduction of carbon monoxide content in main smoke flow.
