SURGICAL METHOD FOR TREATING ESOPHAGEAL ACHALASIA AND DEVICE FOR CREATING COMPRESSION-TYPE VALVE ANASTOMOSIS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2241392 C1

FIELD: medicine; medical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method involves applying laparotomy, mobilizing left liver lobe, mobilizing abdominal esophagus segment, performing extramucous cardiotomy with defect plastic repair with anterior stomach wall and additional gastroesophageal anastomosis created next to it. The gastroesophageal anastomosis is formed with areflux valve by bringing gastric fundus close to posterior esophagus wall to enable their contact to occur and to fix in side-to-side position with gastroesophageal fold being built. An opening is formed in the anterior stomach wall for setting device for performing compression valve anastomosis from superelastic titanium nickelide material possessing shape memory properties via the opening. The device has two U-shaped branches and active member for setting the branches in compression action. The branches are closed allover their length and have parts like crosspieces for separating lumen of hollow organ from the abdominal cavity. The active member is made of crosspieces. The crosspieces connect branch pedicles on the side opposite to their ends.

EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in building areflux valve; prevented gastric contents injection into the esophagus.
