FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed muffler contains oval housing with end walls, inlet and outlet branch pipes, two inner partitions dividing inner space of muffler in cross section into three chambers, namely, intake, expansion and damping. Partition dividing intake and expansion chambers is provided with perforations over surface, and intake and damping chambers are filled with noise-absorbing material. Inlet branch pipe passes through intake chamber into expansion chamber, and outlet branch pipe is connected with perforated pipe, one end of which is located in expansion chamber, and other end passes through damping chamber. Gauze is installed in cross section of expansion chamber after perforated partition before outlet section of inlet branch pipe. Cone is secured opposite to said branch pipe in partition dividing expansion and damping chambers, apex of cone being pointed to side of inlet branch pipe and its axis coincides with axis of said branch pipe.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of noise damping.
