METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SERVICEABILITY CHECK OF STREET LIGHTING LINE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: electrical engineering; protection of municipal lighting lines from emergency situations.

SUBSTANCE: serviceability check of street lighting line for open or short circuit is made in daytime when line is deenergized. To this end voltage signal is generated at starting end of line, home address information signal is formed at end of each tap of lighting line and transferred at moment corresponding to established address over street lighting line. Then information signals are received at starting end of lighting line, information obtained is analyzed, and condition of particular tap is recognized by presence or absence of response signal from each tap of line and also by content of response signal, if any. Device implementing this method has line controller and n line sensors; line controller has power unit, control unit, signal reception unit, adder, and three phase switching units. Each line sensor has control unit, transmitter, stabilizer, first and second switches, address selector, transformer, power amplifier, optocoupler, and voltage sensor.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of street lighting system functioning, extended service life of system components.
