FIELD: metals machining.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with the field of metals machining. The technical result is an increased reliability and accuracy of determination of optimal conditions of machining. The invention provides for a shooting in infra-red range of frequency of a zone of cutting by an infrared imager installed over the cutting tool with a consequent analysis infra-red image plotting of geometrical characteristics of a cut chip with the purpose to determine a degree of their correspondence to the optimal values. In the case of fluctuation of the controlled magnitudes from the reference values a corresponding parameter of a cutting mode is changed. With the purpose to increase stability and qualities of machining the control of cutting is exercised depending on the value of the range of change of geometrical parameters of a zone the infra-red image plotting of the chip during machining with constant modes.
EFFECT: the invention ensures increased reliability and accuracy of determination of optimal conditions of machining.
