FIELD: metallurgical heat engineering.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with metallurgical heat engineering, in particular with a furnace-bath for deposition of coating on items and a method of its operation. The furnace-bath contains a lining, heaters installed along its perimeter and a bath. The body of the bath is made as a double body. The internal body with a technological melt is loosely installed in an external body with a clearance along the whole perimeter. The clearance between the bodies is filled in with an inert to the bath melt and its material protective melt with a density exceeding the density of the technological melt. In the interbody clearance there are gauges to control a level of the protective melt. The internal body is made without a bottom with the height of its walls smaller, than the height of walls of the external body. At operation of the furnace-bath control a level of protective melt in the interbody clearance with the help of the gauges the level control, which produce a signal about depressurization of the bodies of the bath at a change of the level of the protective melt. The invention allows to increase the bath service life and to reduce power consumption by the furnace.
