FIELD: coatings. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to applying metal coatings onto steel sheet. Apparatus contains coating- application reservoir with melt and channel in the bottom for vertically feeding steel sheet and with means to create electric field in channel zone, and, connected to it, reservoir for preliminarily melting metal coating material. Coating-application reservoir has melt level control means. Volume of this reservoir is several times as small as volume of preliminary-melting reservoir. The latter is disposed under the former and communicates with it through magnet pumps. Coating-application reservoir is made in the form of two inserted one into the other vessels connected through pipelines with preliminary-melting reservoir, which is separated into closed and opened parts. Closed part is connected with inside vessel through supply pipelines, and opened part with outside vessel through withdrawal pipeline. EFFECT: improved design. 10 cl, 4 dwg
