FIELD: manufacture from wire endless wavy belt in coils at normal arrangement of lateral surfaces of belt relative to axis of coil, namely belt used as initial blank for packaging different products in flexible envelope, manufacture of wavy resistor heaters, zigzag springs and so on.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of uncoiling wire out of initial coil; shaping wavy belt and coiling it onto cylindrical reel with parallel lateral walls; continuously forcing turns of coil on outer surface of coil in direction to center of coil and in lateral direction to previous turns; at approaching belt to coil providing its free hanging; at coiling boundary turns feeding belt at inclination angle 2-4° relative to walls of reel. Automatic machine for making wavy belt includes apparatus for compacting coil. Said apparatus is in the form of set of rocking single-arm plate type levers mounted on common fixed axle. Each lever rests by its arm upon outer surface of coil. Number of plate type levers is equal to number of belt turns in one layer of coil.
EFFECT: stable geometry size of belt, possibility for making coils of elongated belts without jamming their turns.
