FIELD: glass industry; production of refined glass mass.
SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method and a device dealt with the field of glass industry, in particular, with production of refined glass mass. The technical result of the invention is improvement of the glass melting and refining processes, use of more compact installations, reduction of power input and an increased output of refined glass. In the method of melting and refining of the glass mass the whole or a part of the heating power necessary for melting of the glass mass is produced during combustion of the fossil fuel with use of at least one oxidizer. At that the indicated fossil fuel or the light-end products, which are formed during combustion, are sent into the volume of the glass mass under its surface. Refining of the glass melt is conducted in a thin layer not exceeding 15 cm, and is formed as a foamed mass with its density from 0.5 up to 2 g/cm3. The device for refining of the glass mass represents a static chamber including a withdrawing channel consisting of a chute, a canopy and tools limiting a melted glass mass in this channel as a thin layer. At that the tools are selected with a ratio of an average height to an average width of the indicated channel less than 1. The refining operation also may be performed by centrifuging in the device made with a capability of rotation. Internal walls of it have a cylindrical form and in its cavity it has a partition making the glass melt to flow between the internal walls of the device and the indicated partition. The average distance between the wall and the partition is defined by the ratio of their radiuses equal at least to 0.8.
EFFECT: the invention ensures improvement of the glass melting and refining processes, use of more compact installations, reduction of power input, increased output of refined glass.
