FIELD: optical instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device can be used for testing operation of laser range finder. Optical range simulator is mounted to put axis of output beam from irradiator 7 of laser range finder in alignment with axis crossing center of hole of first flat mirror 1. In this case ray beam from irradiator 7 enters directly the first edge of delay line 2. Light beams after crossing delay line 2 are collected by spherical mirror 3 and directed to second edge of delay line 2 to pass the same distance along delay line the second time. After beam ray goes out first edge of delay line 2 it has to be reflected by first flat mirror 2 and formed into parallel ray beam by means of lens 4. Part of the parallel ray beam after it crossed out-axial hole of second flat mirror 5 is guided by means of second tilting mirror 6 into receiving channel of range finder. The other part of light beam which haven't crossed out-axial hole of second flat mirror 5 and being reflected from it is formed newly by lens 4 at first edge of delay line 2. After that the whole cycle repeats again.
EFFECT: reduced length of optical fiber; increased value of range measured.
