SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an optical instrument, in particular to optical range simulators used to test the operation of a laser range finder. Range simulation device for testing a laser range finder contains at least one optical element with a concave working surface, facing concavity towards the laser range finder. Focal point of the optical element with a concave working surface is fixed to the end of the optical fiber forming the delay line of the laser impulse. Optical element with a concave working surface made of a material with an absorption index from 0.04 to 2 in a layer 1 mm thick for radiation with a working wavelength of the laser range finder and the correlation of the geometric parameters of the range simulator device, ensuring the minimum dimensions of the simulator. Furthermore, it is possible to control a laser range finder with a coaxial arrangement of the transmitting and receiving channels in the range simulation device.

EFFECT: technical result is a simplification of the design of the device for imitation of the range due to the implementation of the optical part of the device mainly in the form of a single optical element, ensuring imitation of real energy loss of a laser range finder pulse or a predetermined ratio of the emitted and received impulses power, changing the diameter of the light beam to the value of the diameter of the laser range finder input window of the photodetector channel and the ability to control the laser range finder, made by coaxial scheme, with the minimum dimensions of the simulator.
