FIELD: electrical engineering; electrical machine manufacture.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method used for drying transformer insulation in sealed tank involves repeated cycles including build-up of electric field by applying dc voltage between conductors of at least one winding and transformer case and maintaining electric field for 2 - 4 h; circulation of transformer oil contacting solid insulation of transformer windings followed by moisture extraction from oil by centrifuging or freezing it out; novelty is that electromagnetic flux is produced at the same time as electric field by passing ac current of 0.05 - 0.5 A through low-voltage winding and that electric field is built up by applying dc voltage between high-voltage winding conductors and case.
EFFECT: reduced power requirement due to augmenting the process.
