FIELD: application of coatings, namely by evaporation and condensation in vacuum, possibly manufacture of cutting tools with wear resistant coatings.
SUBSTANCE: cutting tool includes base of tool and wear resistant ion-plasma coating applied onto it. Coating includes silicon and it is made of titanium nitride and silicon at relation of those components, mass %: titanium, 98.8 -99.1; silicon, 0.9 - 1.2.
EFFECT: enhanced strength of tool.
