FIELD: metallurgy, namely electrolytic production of metal such as aluminum.
SUBSTANCE: in variants of invention cermet inert anodes used for electrolytic production of metals in bath of Hall electrolytic cell contain metallic and ceramic phases. Ceramic phase includes nickel oxide and iron oxide and in addition it may contain zinc oxide or cobalt oxide at next relation of ingredients, mol.%: NiO, 20 - 99; Fe2 O3, 0.01 - 80; ZnO, 0.01 - 30; or NiO, 25 - 55; Fe2O 3, 45 - 55; CoO, up to 20. Metallic phase may contain Cu as base metal and also Ag, Pd, Pt, Au, Rh, Ru, Ir and(or) Os or Ag as base metal and Pd, Pt, Au, Rh, Ru, Ir and(or) Os. Invention provides thermal stability of anode at temperature near 1000°C.
EFFECT: improved mechanical strength, corrosion proofness, high electrical conductance of anode at melting temperature providing low voltage drop of anode, possibility for producing aluminum with very small content of impurities such as iron, copper and(or) nickel.
