PROTECTIVE HELMET Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: protective means, particularly for firemen evacuation from crowning fire site, for firemen protection during extinguishing fire in smoky environment and for rescuing people from burning buildings.

SUBSTANCE: helmet comprises hood freely enveloping user's head and tightly slinging to user's neck with the use of sealing means formed of heat-resistant flexible material. Helmet also has window in area of user's eyes and made of transparent heat-resistant flexible material and breathing means including filtering members with activated charcoal. Window material is polymeric film with heat-reflecting coating applied on outer surface thereof. Hood material also has heat-resistant coating. Sealing means is made as a rope with fastener and movably secured to outer hood surface. Breathing means includes a body with breathing mouth-piece, filtering members formed as alternating activated charcoal and hopcalite layers. Body end is closed with smoke protective filtering member. The breathing means body is protected with heat-resistant heat-reflecting material including air-permeable layer located from inner material side.
