FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: operation of device is based upon determining boundary of media with different electric conductivities. Fat meter can be used for measuring thickness of underskin fat of living animals. Device has skin punch housed in case, measuring probe made in form of hollow needle provided with conductor disposed inside the needle, and electronic circuit provided with autonomous heat source. Needle passes through rest which is connected tightly with comb onto which comb the indication scale is disposed for indicating depth of punch. Indication pointer and guides for displacing comb are made on the top of case. Mechanism of introduction of spring-loaded punch is made in form of eccentric which interacts with case. Release lever for fixing comb at "fat-muscle" boundary is made in form of rocker.
EFFECT: simplified design; improved comfort at exploitation; ability of working in semi-automatic mode.
