APPARATUS FOR WELDING SECTIONIZED BRANCHES OF PIPELINES Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: welding processes and equipment, namely apparatuses for mounting and rotating at welding sectionized pipeline branches of limited mass and diameter.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes rotary spindle mounted on base and kinematically connected with unit for fastening branch. Said unit includes housing and yoke with clamps mounted in housing with possibility of rotation and it provides alignment of spindle axis with geometry axis of branch section. Shell is secured to spindle; on shell are mounted: electrically conducting members and electric current collector for connecting with tap of welding voltage of DC source. Apparatus is provided with arch-shaped bracket whose one side is rigidly joined with rotary spindle. On other side of said bracket housing of unit for fastening branch is mounted. Additional electrically conducting members are mounted in yoke with possibility of switching when yoke is rotated from one working position to other.

EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability, lowered metal consumption of apparatus for welding branches.
