FIELD: electrical engineering; dc traction drives.
SUBSTANCE: proposed drive has two current collectors, circuit breaker, input unit, input-filter reactor and capacitor, electric motors with armature and field windings, four switches, five diodes, shunt resistor, armature current sensor, field current sensor, voltage sensor, control unit, and mode-of-operating setting unit. Third switch is used for short-circuit or overload protection of electric drive in braking mode of operation. Input unit may incorporate braking and ballast resistors, sixth and seventh diodes, fifth and sixth switches.
EFFECT: enhanced maximal tractive forces in starting and upgrade motion, improved antislip properties on poor-adherence areas, reduced current load on short-circuit protective switch.
