FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles, particularly, to electric traction systems supplied by self-contained power supplies, for example, those of diesel locomotives, hybrid locomotives, self-propelled track machines with DC motors. Traction electric drive comprises electric power supply, at least one traction DC motor, voltage inverter composed of electric bridge with its branches made up of six transistors shunted by six inverse diodes. Note here that traction motor armature winding is connected in between midpoints of two adjacent branches including two transistors each while traction motor excitation winding is connected in between outputs of the bridge output diagonal. Electric poser supply consists of diesel generator including diesel and traction DC generator. Note also that traction electric drive incorporates eight transistors and brake resistor connected in series to shunt isolation diode. Extra diode cathode is connected to common point of connection between power accumulator positive output and eight inverse diode anode while common point of connection between isolation diode anode and eight transistor emitter is connected to DC traction generator positive output.

EFFECT: higher power saving characteristics of traction drive.
