FIELD: explosives.
SUBSTANCE: artillery ballistite mainly used as energy source for artillery missiles and in active reactive systems is manufactured on the base of pyroxylin and colloxylin. These components are first mixed at 15-35°C during 360 min. Resulting blend is squeezed to remove water until 6-12% moisture content and subjected to plasticization on continuous rolls to form tablets. Tablets are dried in drying drum to moisture content not superior to 1.0% and homogenized in screw-press, after which tablets are compacted into blocks and the latter into fuel elements on hydraulic press.
EFFECT: increased energy level, strength, and improved ballistic characteristics at high workability.
