FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises housing with opening and thread for lid, plunger which is mounted in the opening, composes a plunger pair with it, and cooperates with the chain through the shoe by its stop face, spring which presses the plunger in the direction of the chain tension, working chamber interposed between the housing, plunger, and lid, means for moving the plunger, and throttle port made in the housing or the lid. The means for moving the plunger is made of a spring-loaded anchor pivotally connected with the housing and transverse gear rack which is mounted at the central part of the plunger and interacts with it. The central part of the plunger is made of a cylindrical rod with the stop face which can be in a contact with the shoe of the tightening chain along the line parallel to the line of the shoe moving. The spring which presses the plunger in the direction of chain tightening is provided with a locator made of a polymeric cylindrical rod. One end of the rod is provided with flange which abuts against the plunger. The other end is provided with the transverse opening for the cotter pin which also passes through the opening made in the lid. The stop face of the cylindrical rod of the plunger is made with a radius defined by the relationship proposed.
