FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for diagnosing condition of electric motors of main line pumps of oil transfer stations, for instance, their serviceability. According to proposed method, in process of diagnosing condition of electric motor of main line pumps operating at overloads, motor overloads are divided into three steps, first step up to 10% overload, second step from 10 - 20% overload, and third step over 20% of motor rated power, respectively. Diagnosing is carried out at first step by noise level, at second step, by temperature, and at third step, condition of electric windings of electric motor is checked by change of dynamic current-voltage characteristics by calculating number of changes of signs of first current derivative with respect to voltage and if it exceeds preset value, electric motor is either switched off or value of its overload is reduced.

EFFECT: improved accuracy and reliability of diagnosing condition of main line pump electric motors at overloads to prevent failures of electric motors and preserve their service life.
