FIELD: metal casting, in particular, electromagnetic movement of smelt metal in manufacture of metal products by casting, for example, by means of a continuous casting machine, as well as periodic movement of measured, metered, controlled and/or preset quantities of smelt metal to a casting apparatus containing a number of identical moulds for production of a set or series essentially identical metal castings.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus, system and method for precise and quick control of feed of the smelt metal to the casting machine by its pumping, braking or metering. The electromagnetic Faraday-Ampere principle is used for current in a unidirectional magnetic field, and the direction of pump action or metering is determined by the right-hand rule. The permanent magnets containing neodymium or similar rare-earth high-energy materials provide for a unique magnetic "long-range interaction". Such neomagnets made in the form of bricks are assembled in various powerful configurations for production of an intensive unidirectional magnetic field (B) in a non-magnetic gap greatly exceeding the gaps really realized by other methods. A metal conductor is positioned in this gap for pumping and moving the smelt metal. One of the advantages is in the fact that the given invention makes it possible to exclude the necessity of metallurgical dampers with a servo control or the expensive rotary mechanisms for metallurgical furnaces.
