FIELD: electrical engineering; voltage regulation.

SUBSTANCE: proposed axial induction regulator has fixed toroidal magnetic core provided with special hemispherical depressions accommodating non-ferromagnetic balls and rotary toroidal magnetic circuit with a few concentric slots by means of which this rotary toroidal magnetic circuit is fitted onto non-ferromagnetic balls and rests on them; ball diameter is chosen so as to ensure that moment of sliding friction force f = k·F, where k is friction coefficient; F = F1 + F2; F1 is axial electromagnetic force; F2 is gravitational force, is higher than electromagnetic torque set up due to interaction between primary winding currents and revolving magnetic field but at the same time provides for rotation of magnetic circuit carrying primary winding by hand. Such measure will prevent spontaneous rotation of magnetic circuit carrying primary winding while regulator is operating. Slots of rotary toroidal magnetic circuit are potted in nonmagnetic insulating material to produce smooth friction surface.

EFFECT: enhanced precision of regulation, reduced mass and size, simplified design, enhanced reliability, reduced cost and power loss.
