FIELD: shipbuilding; breaking ice cover by resonance method with the use of hovercraft.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method is performed by hovercraft running at resonance speed along edge of ice cover; in the course of motion of hovercraft, craft is so positioned relative to profile of flexural gravitational waves by changing its speed that ultrasonic radiator is located under wave crest; said radiator is mounted inside hovercraft hull and is extended under ice cover when required. Then, ultrasonic radiator is switched-on for raising temperature and hydrodynamic pressure under crest of flexural gravitational wave.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of breaking ice cover.
