METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF METAL BAND BY ELECTROLYSIS AND A DEVICE FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2258770 C2

FIELD: electrometallurgy; production of metallic bands by an electrolysis of water solutions.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of electrometallurgy and may be used in production of metallic bands by electrolysis of water solutions, for example, at production of the thin metal paper made, predominantly, out of non-ferrous metals. The method includes cooking an electrolyte water solution, extraction of a metal from then electrolyte with its subsequent settling on a rotating surface under action of an electric current and separation of the metal settlings from the rotating surface. At that during the initial moment of the metal settling they control the time of formation of a depth of the settling on the different places of the rotating surface in its width by entering a rigid screen with a through cavity in it and at least one generatrix of which in length is curvilinear. The device contains a body with a bath, inside which there is a fixed anode with the curvilinear effective area, a rotating drum-cathode mounted with a clearance in respect to the anode, units of feeding to the anode and the drum-cathode of an electrical power, feeding and a draining of an electrolyte from the bath cavity, units of separation of settlings from the drum-cathode with its following reeling in a roller. At that the device is in addition supplied with a detachable screen located in the clearance between the anode and the drum-cathode in the zone of the drum-cathode entry into the electrolyte. The detachable screen is supplied with a through cavity not connected with its periphery, and the screen width is made equal to 1/6-1/8 of the lengths of the anode surface located inside the electrolyte. Realization of the offered technical solution will allow to upgrade the quality of the band, completely to eliminate a difference in thickness, to increase productivity by 10-15 % and to improve density of the band reeling.

EFFECT: the invention ensures improvement of the quality of the band, completely to eliminate a difference in thickness, to increase productivity by 10-15 % and to improve the band reeling density.
