FIELD: ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: the core has a non-cylinder-shaped head with a sharpened corner rounded off with a radius. According to the first modification, the corner length makes up 0.5-1.0 mm, the corner is rounded off with a radius not exceeding 1 mm and is taper-shaped with a taper angle exceeding 90 deg and being less than 130 deg, or curvilinear-shaped, or of two sections, one of which forms with the core axis angle. α1=45-60 deg, and the other-angle α2=20-40 deg. According to the second and third modifications, the corner is made tapered or curvilinear, or of a broken shape, the head and/or corner is made of material with an ultimate strength or density above the ultimate strength or density of the material from which the rest part of the core is made. According to the fourth modification, the mass of the core head or the mass of the core head without its corner exceeds the half of the core mass. Offered are the methods of manufacture of the cores on the basis of the powder metallurgy consisting in successive formation of the core parts of different materials and the their joint caking, preliminary and then final caking.
EFFECT: enhanced piercing effect of the bullet.
