FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: armor-piercing core is made from hard alloy with ultimate compression force exceeding 4000 MPa and consists of tail and head part of ogival shape with apex angle varying from 90° to 120°, and apex rounded to 0.2-0.6 mm-radius. Said tail represents truncated cone with smaller diametre of the cone making 0.90-0.97 of the core head part base diametre and cone larger diametre equal to that of head part base. Hard alloy material features HRA not lower than 88.5 and coefficient of strain ratio K1c approximating to 8 MPa.*m1/2. In estimating piercing capacity of said bullet, ultimate compression resistance, HRA hardness and strain ratio factor K1c are determined.
EFFECT: increased piercing capacity.
