FIELD: medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting smooth muscle region and applying non-exciting electric field to the region that reduces mechanical activity in the region. Device has a set of electrodes for making contact with the smooth muscle region, control unit for supplying electric power to the electrodes with non-exciting electric field being created and causing no propagating action potential formation in the smooth muscle. Anastomosis cuff has a zone for joining two segments of gastrointestinal tract and electrodes. The control unit feeds the electrodes for reducing gastrointestinal tract contraction intensity with power. Probe has casing, end piece, a set of electrodes and control unit for producing non-exciting electric fields.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness in controlling smooth muscle operation.
